| Friendly and reliable - Dortmund’s call centres provide service from the acceptance of orders to telephone consultation. |
|
Over recent years, Dortmund profited considerably from the expansion drive of its call centres.
Call centres are synonymous with new, personnel-supported services and growth industries in Dortmund driven by state-of-the-art technology. Following the boom of the 90s, our call centres are currently undergoing a consolidation phase.
Challenges for call centres
In order to ensure its viability, this industry has to develop new high-quality products and further professionalise its services. And in terms of location criteria, call centres depend on the availability and qualification of personnel.
Dortmund began early to expand the city’s qualification infrastructure for (potential) employees and accorded the service sector of call centres a high level of priority. Today, up to 3,000 employees work in Dortmund’s approx. 30 call centres.
Our commitment to call centres
Economic Development Dortmund assists Dortmund call-centre operators and human-resources managers in meeting current challenges.
The projects initiated and co-ordinated are aimed at professionalising the internal and external development of human resources as well as at modernising call centres.
Previous goals include:
- examining work environment and productivity in companies distinguished by high-growth dynamics on the example of call centres; developing a concept for training
- improving the image both on the inside and on the outside through higher quality; developing a concept for a communal initiative "Dortmund call centres"
- maintaining a high standard of human resources, project and quality management in call centres; developing a concept for training.
In addition, this sector can take advantage of consulting services with regard to financing and subsidies, real-estate referral services (properties, office and plant space) as well as assistance with planning and application processes.
